Mian Javed Latif, a federal minister, said on Saturday in Lahore that the PML-N would only consent to the general election of 2023 if its leadership was given an equal opportunity in the political arena.

Speaking at a news conference, the minister said that although no political party desired to postpone elections, everyone should be treated equally until the polls in 2023. He also said that the PML-N leadership had always complied with court rulings and had never engaged in agitational politics.

He claimed in today news paper that despite being innocent, Nawaz Sharif had to endure disqualification and legal proceedings; however, he added that now was the time to ensure that he received justice because he had served the nation three times as prime minister and had made contributions to its growth and advancement.

According to Javed Latif, no action was taken in response to Imran Khan’s cipher plot, assault on national institutions, encouragement of those institutions to break the law and the Constitution, failure of the RTS [results in transmission system] in Imran Khan’s favor, as well as the PTI government’s performance, which ruined the country’s economy.

No one should be held dear to justice and above the law, he stated, therefore justice standards should be the same for everyone.

According to Javed Latif, foreign forces are trying to exert pressure on national institutions to profit from the political unrest and confusion that Imran Khan, the chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, has brought about in the nation.

He said that the PTI leader had turned into a puppet of foreign forces because he always sought to undermine national institutions and put obstacles in the path of the nation’s prosperity and development.
